Your Email Bounce Rate is:
Your bounce rate is the percentage of sent emails that could not be delivered to a recipient's inbox. It is a critical indicator of your email list's quality.
Formula: (Total Bounced Emails / Total Emails Sent) × 100
Example: If you sent 1,000 emails and 50 of them bounced:
(50 / 1,000) × 100 = 5% Bounce Rate
A good email bounce rate is generally considered to be below 2%. A rate between 2% and 5% is acceptable but could be improved. If your bounce rate is consistently above 5%, it's a strong indicator of problems with your email list quality or sending practices and should be addressed immediately to protect your sender reputation.
Emails can bounce for several reasons. A 'hard bounce' occurs when the email address is invalid, fake, or no longer exists. A 'soft bounce' is usually temporary and can be caused by a full inbox, a server being down, or the email message being too large.
A high bounce rate directly harms your sender reputation with email service providers like Gmail and Outlook. If you have a poor reputation, your emails are more likely to be sent to the spam folder, drastically reducing your open rates, click-through rates, and overall campaign effectiveness.
